A Shameless Plug for a Local Club

November 25th, 2008 by Lisa Oates · No Comments

Did you know that volleyball is one of the Shenandoah Valley’s favorite sports? Go to a local high school volleyball game and you’ll be stunned at the number of fans in the bleachers. During the off-season, many of these volleyball players join the Valley Juniors Volleyball Club, part of the Junior Olympic Volleyball Club, which is a national organization. Valley Juniors is based in Bridgewater and was organized by Mark Shickel of Shickel Corporation in Bridgewater. The club started up in 2005 and has grown ever since!

The ages of the girls in this club run from 14 to 18. Practices are usually twice a week, and tournaments are typically all-day format and can be anywhere from Virginia Beach to Harrisonburg. It is worth mentioning that the 16’s team last year ranked #1 in the region (which is most of the state of Virginia) for most of the season!
