Harrisonburg is scheduled to host the largest-ever FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Lego® League competition on December 5th and 6th. The challenge is for kids in the Lego® League to build a robot for the “Smart Move” Challenge. This competition will be held at JMU’s Memorial Hall.
Children from ages nine to fourteen team up in groups of ten to design, build, and program independent robots. Each team is headed by adult coaches and mentors. This year’s challenge calls for the children to research and present their own creative solutions to one of today’s most relevant topics: gaining efficiency in transportation systems.
The night before this competition begins, be sure to head on over to Downtown for the annual Holiday Parade, which begins at 7:00 pm. The participants of the Lego® League competition will be there, too!
