New Restaurant in Downtown Harrisonburg: Brooklyn Cafe and Lounge

March 3rd, 2010 by Lisa Oates · 3 Comments

Downtown Harrisonburg will soon be home to yet another new restaurant! It is called Brooklyn Cafe and Lounge, and is located in the former Franklin’s Cafe at 20 S. Mason Street. They’re having a grand re-opening on March 5th.

Brooklyn Cafe and Lounge will be serving up Middle Eastern, Turkish, Mexican, Italian, and Southern American cuisine. The second floor will be transformed into a hookah bar offering 43 different flavors of tobacco. Oh, and they’ll have wi-fi!

Read a review of this new restaurant on the Downtown Harrisonburg blog.

Brookyln cafe was an excellent experience. Everything is very classy, and the couches are comfortable. The first head is a little expensive, but it’s half of for the next head you get!

The tea was delicious, and the food was pretty good.

I did get a headache after a couple hours from
the music. It’s mostly eastern euro techno. The bass can mess your night up.

Otherwise, it’s a great hookah bar!

    Dear JMU student,
I am very pleased to hear that you have liked out restaurnat.
however there are two things that I would like to touch base on with you.
first of all I would like to apologize if we have given you headache with the music, we stirve to please almost everyone and in occasions we have changed the music based on request, however if we are not informed, we wont know if there is one who is not happy.. :)
    secondly for the price…
as you are aware we have three different quality for our 45 different flavor tobaccos and they start as low as $10.99 for Al-Fakher which is not even served anywhere else in town. in average we place between 30 to 40 grams of tobacco and we also give the opportunity of mixing them, which again is not offered anywhere else in the area.
at the end I would like to apologize for any inconvinence caused to you and I would like to offer you a free bowl of hookah next time you are in. please send me your info to the email above before hand.
    thanks

No other place like it in town. Great food, great music, friendly service, and more flavors of tobacco than you could imagine. I’ve been there many times and I’m almost always trying something different.
