Local Organic Greenhouse Expands and Adds 31 Jobs

Shenandoah Growers, which is a small business success story here in the Shenandoah Valley — Rockingham County, to be precise — grows fresh culinary herbs organically. This company started over 20 years ago. According to their website, Shenandoah Growers is “actively committed to being part of America’s healthy food movement, and it is our passionate belief that fresh herbs are the simplest, freshest and healthiest way to transform the taste of food naturally. Our vision is to provide 100% natural, regionally grown, sustainably farmed fresh herbs to our customers who supply the kitchens and tables of the American family.”

Not by accident, Shenandoah Growers has experienced an 800% increase in sales over the past 10 years! To accommodate the increased demand, they have just finished a $3 million, state-of-the-art USDA-certified organic greenhouse expansion project. This expansion has also created 31 jobs. In a down economy, this is great news!
