Happy New Year! Harrisonblog’s Year in Review

2011 is here! Can you believe it?! Remember back in the day when you used to sit and think about how weird it would be to live in the new millennium, and that years in the 2000’s seemed way far off? Okay, so maybe I was the only one, but it is still hard to believe that 2011 is upon us. Lets face it, 2010 was no fantastic year for real estate, but we look forward to the opportunities that will arise this year. Thanks to you, our faithful readers, Harrisonblog improved in popularity over the past year (a big THANK YOU for reading our blog and staying in touch with the local real estate market and community!), so we wanted to share with you some of our favorite posts and some of our most popular posts from 2010:

JANUARY

We posted about the drinking water quality in Harrisonburg, the 2009 Year End Real Estate Market Report, how fantastic Brant Suter is, school redistricting information, and a bunch about property taxes and tax credits.

FEBRUARY

New renovation rules were pending, the ever-lasting question of rent versus buy, Harrisonburg’s record snowfall, finding your carbon footprint, and when to file a claim on your homeowner’s insurance.

MARCH

Top posts included information about Port Republic Road construction (and a project timeline), a couple of job fairs, and an interview with one of our clients who used the first time home buyer tax credit to buy a home.

APRIL

We posted about Harrisonburg Crossing being in foreclosure, Harrisonburg ranking in the top ten places to start a second career, and the new “A Dream Come True” park opening up.

MAY

We added embedded video tours to our website (www.HarrisonburgHomes.com)!

JUNE

Whoa! Record low interest rates on 30-year loans, the May market report, and a neighborhood tour of Harrisonburg’s most prestigious subdivision — Lake Pointe.

JULY – AUGUST

No posts during these months… here’s why.

SEPTEMBER

We posted about some new offerings at Massanutten Resort, whether or not a sales tax on real estate would fund health care (our most popular post of 2010!), the integration of Facebook sharing on our blog posts, the abundance in flavor at the Harrisonburg Farmer’s Market, and another expansion of Rosetta Stone.

OCTOBER

We described how a real estate team works, the scoop on two proposed amendments to the Constitution regarding property taxes, and planned expansion projects for Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.

NOVEMBER

Housing affordability is always of great interest, so we posted about this for both Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, plus the local farm real estate market, and what the future of real estate in Virginia will look like.

DECEMBER

Coming to the end of the year, we started a series about home values in different towns in our area. So far, we’ve reported on Bridgewater, Dayton, and Broadway (stay tuned to read about other towns!). We also posted about sales price trends in our area over the past few years.

Thanks again for continuing to read Harrisonblog. We appreciate you, your comments, your inquiries, and your faithful readership! We plan on delivering more great posts throughout 2011. Happy New Year!
