Grilled Cheese Mania to Host Fundraiser for Local Lady with Rare Disease

Haley Chico - Hope for Haley

Our friend, Haley Chico, has been struggling with a rare disease for about a decade — and she’s only 20 years old — going back and forth with doctors and surgeons on her journey to find out what exactly was going on inside her young body. Turns out, she has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which is found in only one in 40,000 people. Her spinal cord has been compressing into the back of her skull, causing immense pain, frequent fainting, and basically taking away her ability to get up and walk around. As you can imagine, when you visit as many doctors as she has, and have a surgery like she had in June, the hospital bills add up. To over $60,000. Enter Grilled Cheese Mania!

We love Haley. We love Grilled Cheese Mania. Combine the two, and you get a company with heart and soul going into their simple comfort food raising support for a young lady with heart and soul going into her recovery.

On Saturday, August 31st — yes, THIS Saturday! — from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Grilled Cheese Mania, located on Route 42 next to Tangier Island Seafood in Harrisonburg, will be hosting a fundraiser for Haley, serving up their delicious sandwiches and soups, and giving 100% of the proceeds to the Chico family!

At this event, you’ll also be able to purchase t-shirts, jewelry, and raffle tickets for a variety of wonderful items.

You can also support Haley’s journey by reading her blog.
