About the Artist:

Growing up with an art teacher for a mother, Kate remembers having painting sessions on her front porch with her two sisters. Her father made her first easel. Her love of drawing began in high school when she explored portraiture of children. She loved how openly children can express their emotions.

Kate graduated from Christopher Newport University with a bachelor’s in Studio Art and a master’s in Art Education, with a focus in painting. During college she studied painting and Art History in Florence, Italy, deepening her love for Renaissance art and architecture. Many of her paintings are inspired by European landscapes, although she remains loyal to her Shenandoah Valley roots.
