Water Street Vintage & Bohemian is opening on August 13th in the previous location of the Midtowne Bottle Shop on Water Street in downtown Harrisonburg. This shop offers a great variety of vintage clothing, a fun selection of hats, and unique jewelry (+ much more) all presented in a fun atmosphere. The owner, Mike Harlow, was kind enough to give us a sneak peek of his shop and share more about it. To keep up to date with all things groovy going on in the shop, follow their Facebook page!

What inspired you to open Water Street Vintage & Bohemian? I’ve always loved the clothes from the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s. Over the past couple of years I have started purchasing and wearing vintage clothing. I’ve gotten a lot of strange looks but there has also been people that would approach me and say, “I love your outfit”. It has come to my attention over these past couple of years that vintage clothing is making a comeback. I was getting burned out from my past job and I decided to give this a try.

What type of inventory will you offer? I will carry clothing and clothing accessories from the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s primarily. I also love the Bohemian/Gypsie look, so I will also carry Bohemian clothing and accessories. Other items you’ll find in the store will be jewelry, primarily Native American, Vintage & Bohemian but others as well. There will also be vintage home furnishings and decor as well as some odd, wired and cool and unusual things as I find them.

What are you most excited for in this process of opening? Well I’ve closed one door and have opened another, so opening a new door is always interesting and exciting. There is no one thing I’m looking forward too. It will be fun to watch the older generation reminisce and to watch and talk with the newer generations about the items in the store. And hopefully we will sell some things along the way. It’s always fun, for me, to look for all this vintage stuff.
