Cindy Ferek Wins $100,000 For Trail Around Turner Ashby Campus

For two months, the local community rallied together and voted once a day for Cindy Ferek, a Physical Education teacher at Turner Ashby High School in Bridgewater, so that her vision could come to fruition. Her goal was to win the Farmers Insurance Thank A Million Teachers contest — a prize worth $100,000 — so she could construct a mile-long path around the Turner Ashby High School campus.

Well, the results are in, and SHE WON!!!!

Her reaction?

Thank you for voting! We did it and it took each person voting everyday and I want to say thank you so much for coming on board! We are building a trail for our school, promoting physical education, showing how teamwork can accomplish ANYTHING, building partnerships in our community, getting people excited about being physically fit, teaching students to drive using innovative techniques and providing new opportunities for students with special needs! What an incredible journey! Thank you for being a part of my life!
