(Not) Just Another Day: The 24 Hour Project

Are you someone who loves live, local entertainment and just can’t seem to get enough of it?

Yes? Well, Harrisonburg has a treat for you – Court Square Theater’s 24 Hour Project is back!

(Not) Just Another Day

For the third year in a row, Court Square Theater is embarking on the impressive undertaking of a continuous 24 hours of entertainment. That’s right – from 5pm Friday evening, January 22nd to 5pm Saturday evening, January 23rd, you can stop into Court Square Theater to catch some of our local performers, comedians, poets, dancers, and musicians showcasing their skills.

To learn a little more about the workings of this endurance project, we turned to the expert – Mark Finks, Theater Manager of Court Square Theater:

When did the 24 Hour Project start?
Finks: The 24 hour project is only 3 years old! The first one took place on Jan 24/25 2014. It was created by the past Theater Manager Michael Weaver, and his assistant Laurie Benade.

What is the purpose of the 24 Hour Project?
Finks: The main purpose of the 24 Hour project is fundraising for Court Square Theater. The ticket price goes directly into funding the programming and facilities upgrades at Court Square Theater. It’s also a fun event that showcases the amazing talent that exists right here in the Valley.

Are there any changes to the project this year?
Finks: This year we added a lot more poetry to the mix of performers.

Why should Harrisonburg come out to enjoy this event?
Finks: It’s a fun event unlike anything else in the area. No other event in the Valley offers so much entertainment for such a low ticket price, at such a variety of times. And for everyone with strange sleep cycles (night owls and early risers) this is a chance to see live entertainment at whatever time works for you.

Check out the Performance Schedule, buy your wristband for only $10 (allowing you to come and go as you please through the event), and come on out to thoroughly enjoy yourself while supporting Court Square Theater and local entertainment.
