Wilson Downtown Gallery: Jennifer Lockard Connerley

We are so pleased to have Jennifer Lockard Connerley displaying her art in the Wilson Downtown Gallery This show “Shenandoah Words” is inspired by her young daughter’s love for naming things. Come see this whimsical look at the Shenandoah Valley.

More about Jennifer in her own words: I paint people and landscapes, and teach about religion. My pictures consider the intersections of humor and belief. My work also explores the relationship between photography and painting. After studying religion in Chapel Hill and painting in Boston, I now live and work in Linville, Virginia.

This show was inspired by my daughter’s enthusiasm for naming things. She named every picture here, except for the North Fork, since she doesn’t yet know what that is. I am so grateful to the Wilson Gallery and to Kline May for allowing me to share their beautiful space. These paintings are dedicated to the memories of Henry Clark and Clay Clark; they encouraged me to keep painting.
