As someone who works downtown, I have walked by the Free Clinic hundreds (if not thousands) of times. And yet, I was not fully aware of what a remarkable and necessary community resource it is - a (quite literally) life-saving service for many of my neighbors. The clinic is full of exceptional people on a mission "to provide affordable, sustainable healthcare services for low-income and uninsured adults, primarily through volunteer resources and community support." An incredible resource for so many in the community, one Free Clinic doctor calls his volunteer work at the clinic "the purest form of medicine." Read on to learn a little bit about what the clinic is all about.
We are thrilled to have Kate Scheel as our next artist in the Wilson Downtown Gallery. Stop by our office to see Kate's eye-catching and evocative paintings and drawings or join us for a joint artist reception and Holiday Parade open house on Friday, December 2nd!
We as a Team love and support the Arts Council of the Valley and the work they do to make life more enriched for all of us in Harrisonburg. We recently had the chance to talk with Jenny Burden who was a member of our Team before taking on the role of Executive Director at the Arts Council. Needless to say, she has a special place in our hearts and we're thrilled with the work she's doing for arts in our community.
The annual Veterans Day celebration in downtown Harrisonburg is always a special treat and an honor to be a part of. Our team is proud to open up our office -- Wilson Downtown Gallery -- during this special event to anyone who would like some free refreshments or to view the art currently displayed on our gallery walls by local artist, Brenda Hounshell. Take a look at the full lineup of events for the afternoon of November 6th!
We are so excited to have the very accomplished and incredibly talented artist, Brenda Hounshell, display her artwork in the Wilson Downtown Gallery for the months of October and November. We can't say enough good things about these vibrant and exquisite paintings so you'll just have to stop in for yourself and see why we love Brenda's artwork so much.
The annual Farm-to-Table Breakfast, previously held at Clementine, is scheduled for October 24, 2016, at Ruby's Arcade in downtown Harrisonburg. A delicious collaboration from local farms provides an incredible breakfast, complete with local coffee and a friendly atmosphere. There really is no better way to highlight our amazing local farms than in a breakfast spread at a favorite downtown location in the Culinary District!
